How hard is this cloud thing? Ask Google & Amazon
Google is looking for a product manager who can help move Alphabet to Google Cloud
There’s an old-school saying, “Eat your own dog food.” It’s meant to say you are the best customer for the products you create. However, not all dog food is the same. If you are old enough, you may remember the AOL/Time Warner merger. Think AOL making Time Warner use AOL mail. That didn’t turn out well. So, what about the public cloud?
Larry Ellison gave Amazon no short grief about being dependent on Oracle databases for some of Amazon’s mission-critical workloads. Amazon’s Jeff Barr claimed victory in 2019. That was a full 5-years after Amazon announced Aurora its rational database. Cloud migrations are hard.
Recently, Google Cloud published a job posting looking for a product manager that can help make Google Cloud into something Alphabet can use for its infrastructure.

But as I started out this CTO Short not all dog food is the same and migrating to the pubic cloud is not easy.
