Architecture Monthly Magazine: Open Source
According to the Open Source Initiative, the term “open source” was created at a strategy session held in 1998 in Palo Alto, California, shortly after the announcement of the release of the Netscape source code. Stakeholders at that session realized that this announcement created an opportunity to educate and advocate for the superiority of an open development process.
We’ve witnessed big changes in open source in the past 22 years and this year-end issue of Architecture Monthly looks at a few trends, including the shift from businesses only consuming open source to contributing to it. You’ll also going to learn how AWS open source projects are one of the ways we’re making technology less cost-prohibitive and more accessible to everyone.
