We offer two live, 60-minute shows each week: Mondays at 7:30 a.m. PT and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. PT. As a friendly reminder, the content covered in each version is roughly the same but presented by a different set of hosts. Watch one or both—your choice!

Episode three recap

In episode three, our hosts walked through database services, helping you learn about topics like Amazon Dynamo DB and Amazon Relational Database Service, as well as the differences between relational and non-relational databases. And as usual, we took your questions during AWS Power Hour: Q&A, which livestreams 30 minutes before each AWS Power Hour: Cloud Practitioner as an open-forum.

If you have questions about the content covered in episode three, join either host for next week’s AWS Power Hour: Q&A. The hosts will also choose a couple examples of weekly homework to review. A reminder about your homework from episode three:

·         Draw a highly available and automatically scaled two-tier application (Web, DB) within an AWS Region.

·         Post the drawing on Twitter or LinkedIn using #AWSPowerHourHW and tag your host (Jonathan or Blaine).

Coming up in episode four

Next week, we’ll spend our time talking about the all-important topic of security, starting with the shared responsibility model in the AWS Cloud. From there, we’ll focus on specific services and scenarios. For instance, you’ll learn more about the AWS services to consider when passing secure credentials like AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) and AWS Secrets Manager. Next, you’ll explore how to protect your application from external threats using services like AWS Shield, AWS CloudFront, and AWS Web Application Firewall. Finally, you’ll learn about security at an organizational level using AWS Organizations, AWS CloudTrail, and AWS Security Hub.
