Posted on: Dec 3, 2020

AWS Compute Optimizer now supports IOPS and throughput-based EBS volume recommendations.

Over-provisioning EBS volumes can lead to unnecessary infrastructure cost, and under-provisioning EBS volumes can lead to poor application performance. AWS Compute Optimizer delivers intuitive and easily actionable Amazon EBS volume recommendations so that you can identify optimal provisioned IOPS settings and volume sizes for your EBS volumes based on your performance needs, without requiring specialized knowledge or investing substantial time and money. Compute Optimizer delivers EBS volume recommendations for General Purpose (SSD) (gp2 and gp3) volumes and Provisioned IOPS (io1 and io2) volumes that are attached to EC2 instances for at least 30 consecutive hours.

AWS Compute Optimizer EBS recommendations is now available in 16 AWS regions at no additional charge. You only pay for the EBS volumes needed to run your applications and Amazon CloudWatch monitoring fees. You can start using AWS Compute Optimizer through the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDK. Click here to learn more.
