AWS IDE Toolkit now available for AWS Cloud9

Posted on: Dec 11, 2020

On December 11, 2020 we launched the AWS Toolkit for AWS Cloud9, enabling users of our browser-based IDE to easily manage core AWS services through the graphical user interface. A key component of the AWS Toolkit is the Resource Explorer – a view that allows you to navigate and interact with your AWS resources such as AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, AWS CloudFormation, Amazon S3, and more. Cloud9 will continue to increase support for other AWS resource types through the Toolkit.

The AWS Toolkit extends AWS Cloud9’s support for AWS Lambda functions, allowing users to quickly invoke, import, deploy, or delete functions. And integration with the Serverless Application Model (SAM) helps you manage the process of creating, debugging, and deploying serverless applications from within the IDE.

AWS Cloud9 development environments that are created on or after December 11, 2020, will have the AWS Toolkit for Cloud9 switched on by default. The IDE team is working on an update to existing environments that will bring support for the AWS Toolkit to development environments created before December 11. Learn more about AWS Cloud9 by visiting our product page or visit the AWS Cloud9 console.
