Amazon Chime SDK for JavaScript supported on Ubuntu

Posted on: May 15, 2020

Starting today, developers using the Amazon Chime SDK for JavaScript can run their web applications in Google Chrome browsers running on the Ubuntu LTS (version 16.04 and newer) operating system. With support across the most common web browsers and operating systems, the Amazon Chime SDK helps developers reach their customers with audio calling, video calling, and screen sharing features on their preferred devices.

The Amazon Chime SDK for JavaScript is used to connect web clients to Amazon Chime SDK meeting resources managed in customers’ AWS accounts and provides methods to manage local audio and video devices, and bind media streams to native UI elements. The latest Amazon Chime SDK for JavaScript interfaces are compatible with previously released versions. Developers that have deployed applications using the Amazon Chime SDK can add SDK support for Ubuntu by integrating the latest version of the JavaScript SDK available on npm.

The Amazon Chime SDK is a set of real-time communications components that developers can use to quickly add audio calling, video calling, and screen sharing capabilities to their own web or mobile applications. Developers can leverage the same communication infrastructure and services that power Amazon Chime, an online meetings service from AWS, and deliver engaging experiences in their applications.
