EC2 Image Builder, a service that makes it easier and faster to build and maintain secure Virtual Machine images now supports additional Operating Systems - Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES). Amazon Linux 2 and Windows Server 2019/2016/2012 R2 operating systems are already supported.

Image Builder provides a one-stop-shop to automate image management processes such as creation, patching, testing, distribution, and sharing. Customers can generate an automated pipeline to produce secure, up-to-date Linux and Windows Server images. When software updates become available, Image Builder automatically produces a new image and distributes it to stipulated AWS regions after running tests on it.

Support for the additional OSes is available in all AWS regions. EC2 Image Builder offered at no cost, other than the cost of the AWS resources used to create, store, and share the images. For more information, see Image Builder documentation
