Announcing the general availability of AWS IoT Core Fleet Provisioning, a new feature that makes it easy to onboard large numbers of manufactured devices to AWS IoT Core at scale

Posted on: Apr 30, 2020

AWS IoT Core is a managed cloud service that lets connected devices easily and securely interact with cloud applications and other devices. Fleet Provisioning is a new feature that helps customers easily onboard large volumes of manufactured devices, from consumer devices to industrial equipment, to AWS IoT Core.

For many customers, particularly original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) manufacturing large volumes of devices, the process of uniquely configuring and connecting IoT devices to the cloud remains a manual and time-consuming process. This can increase manufacturing costs and delay the development cycle. Now, with AWS IoT Core Fleet Provisioning, customers can automate and simplify this process with a fully managed, template-based device provisioning and onboarding workflow. Fleet Provisioning sets up devices with unique digital identities and performs the device-side and cloud-side configuration needed for each device to securely connect and operate with AWS IoT Core. All this happens automatically upon the devices' first connection to AWS IoT Core, or whenever a device needs to receive new credentials or updated configuration, saving valuable time for customers.

Fleet Provisioning is offered at no additional charge to AWS IoT Core pricing, and is now generally available in all Regions where AWS IoT Core is available.
